My Story
For most of us, defying odds is a constant part of our lives. It’s a hard and often frustrating experience, but in the end, it becomes a part of our story and it makes us who we are.
This is my story.
At every stage of my life, there were people who told me I should give up, that whatever I was doing was not going to work out.
When I first tried to get into the school I chose and failed, my parents asked me if I was done or if I wanted to try again. That day defined the rest of my life.
During the final years at my school I was told I would never graduate. I said “OK,” then graduated at 17 and signed a contract with a professional ballet company.
When I couldn’t get a job after I retired from dancing, I opened my first business.
After opening my second business, I was told that it would fail in six months. I took that comment as a compliment, and successfully sold the business eight years later.
I hope MyStory will encourage people to tell their stories, inspire others to live their lives to the fullest, and to always trust in yourself.
Through stories, we learn.
Remember, your story is yours — only yours — to tell.
It’s your story. Write it. Sign it. Own it.
Cheers, Alexei
