A year ago, Natalia felt like she was the most unhappy person in the world. She understood that her situation was not the worst, but she found herself sitting on her kitchen floor crying bitter tears. Her heart was broken. Her career appeared uncertain because she had been turned down for enough jobs to last two lifetimes. New York turned out turned out not to be the most hospitable city. People seemed uncaring, flaky, and eventually disappeared from her life. One of her friends had asked, “why did you choose this miserable path of a striving émigré?”. She had no answer. Upon returning home with her heart healed, new meetings and job interviews appeared. Life seemed easier. A couple of months later, she received a job offer to work for a company in Midtown Manhattan. The person who broke her heart apologized, and she made wonderful new friends in the city. She now understands why she walked the path of the striving émigré in New York City. If you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere
